Q:-The air conditioner does not operate immediately when dry or cooling operation is activated.

ANS:-  When dry or cooling operation is activated with the auto fan speed setting set to ON, the SMELL PROOF operation starts and removes stagnant odor from the indoor unit before air is discharged. Therefore, the unit does not discharge air immediately after the operation starts. Please wait for about 30 to 40 seconds.

Q:- The air conditioner does not operate for Streamer air purifying operation. The unit does not produce any discharge sound.

• Is the front panel closed? If it is open, close it.
• Is the Streamer unit installed properly? Insert the Streamer unit all the way.
• Check if the tip of the needle in the Streamer unit is dirty. If it is dirty, clean it.
• When the room temperature approaches the set temperature, Streamer discharge stops and the air flow volume becomes low.

Please check the following before calling for servicing.

• Is the temperature and the operation mode properly set by the remote controller?
• Are air quantity and direction properly controlled?
• Are air filters clean?
• Are areas directly below or next to the air conditioner blocked by furniture or other objects?
• Are windows and doors closed?
• Has the ventilation fan stopped?

Clean Your Air Conditioner Condensing Unit

Turn your thermostat off.

Go outside and clean your condensing unit off with a garden hose for about TWO (2)

minutes or until any debris washes off. Let it dry for about TEN (10) minutes then turn your

thermostat back on. The idea is that you want to keep the coils dirt-free. You don't have to

take the air conditioner apart.

This step is especially important if you are near a cottonwood tree.

Always Keep Your Furnace Filter Clean (Both Summer And Winter)

We recommend that you check it every month. A dirty filter will not allow air to flow freely.

Hold the filter up to the light or sunlight to see if it is dirty and needs changing.

If You Have a Digital Thermostat, Check Your Batteries

If the batteries in your digital thermostat are low, it won't call for your air conditioner to come

on.

Normal battery replacement schedule is every TWO (2) years.

Check If You Need Freon

To check if you need Freon, check the temperature of the large copper line coming from

your air conditioning unit into the house. Perform the check on a warm day (over 80

o

F)

after the air conditioner has been running for five (5) minutes.

If the line is cold you are fine, but if it is warm you probably need a Freon charge.

Check Your Fuses and/or Circuit Breaker

If your unit won't come on, check your fuses and/or circuit breaker.

Registers

Keep the basement supply registers CLOSED in the summer.

 

If You Have Interruptible Electric Service

During hot weather (above 90

o

F) if you have interruptible electric for your air conditioner, and

it is during the off cycle, the little red light will come on outside near the meter.

Thermostat Temperature

Be sure NEVER to set the thermostat below 70

o

F, and if the weather outside drops below

60

o

F your air conditioner should not be on. Your system was not designed to run under these

conditions.

Turn Off Humidifier

If you have a humidifier the bypass damper should be closed (or in the "summer" position) and

the humidistat turned off.

Wait To Turn Your Air Conditioner Back On

Anytime the air conditioning unit is running and then is switched off, or cycles off during

normal operation, you should always wait Five (5) minutes before attempting to turn it back on.

If you turn it on too soon it can blow your fuses, your breaker, or damage your equipment.

Do Not Cover the Entire Unit During the Winter

If you cover your air conditioning unit in the winter (when not in use) do not cover the entire

unit; leave at least 12" of the bottom of condenser coil exposed which allows it to breath.

Disconnect Power in the Winter

In the winter we suggest disconnecting the power to the air conditioning unit. Either turn off

the breaker, if you have one, or remove the pullout fuse located beside your unit outside on

your house.

Disconnecting the power prevents any possible air conditioner use during winter and saves a

small amount of electricity.

If you disconnect the power remember that in the spring you should re-energize the unit for

one full day before using it.

1902 Willis Carrier invents the Apparatus for Treating Air for the Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Co. in Brooklyn, N.Y. The machine blows air over cold coils to control room temperature and humidity, keeping paper from wrinkling and ink aligned. Finding that other factories want to get in on the cooling action, Carrier establishes the Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America.

1906 Stuart Cramer, a textile mill engineer in North Carolina, creates a ventilating device that adds water vapor to the air of textile plants. The humidity makes yarn easier to spin and less likely to break. He's the first to call this process "air conditioning."

1914 Air conditioning comes home for the first time. The unit in the Minneapolis mansion of Charles Gates is approximately 7 feet high, 6 feet wide, 20 feet long and possibly never used because no one ever lived in the house.

1931 H.H. Schultz and J.Q. Sherman invent an individual room air conditioner that sits on a window ledge—a design that's been ubiquitous in apartment buildings ever since. 1939 Packard invents the coolest ride in town: the first air-conditioned car. Dashboard controls for the a/c, however, come later. Should the Packard's passengers get chilly, the driver must stop the engine, pop open the hood, and disconnect a compressor belt.

1942 The United States builds its first "summer peaking" power plant made to handle the growing electrical load of air conditioning.

1947  "The greatest contribution to civilization in this century may well be air-conditioning—and America leads the way." Yet somehow people still say a brilliant new idea is "the best thing since sliced bread."

1950s In the post-World War II economic boom, residential air conditioning becomes just another way to keep up with the Joneses. More than 1 million units are sold in 1953 alone.

1970s Window units lose cool points as central air comes along. The units consist of a condenser, coils, and a fan. Air gets drawn, passed over coils, and blasted through a home's ventilation system. R-12, commonly known as Freon-12, is used as the refrigerant.

1994 Freon is linked to ozone depletion and banned in several countries. Auto manufacturers are  to the less harmful refrigerant R134a by 1996. Brands like Honeywell and Carrier develop coolants that are more environmentally friendly.

2003 In " Andre 3000 raps, "What's cooler than being cool? Ice cold!" They aren't talking about air conditioning.
